Minimally Invasive Is easier on you!
The most exciting development in women’s health is introduction of patient-friendly procedures, a turn that refers to the use of high tech robotic instruments that allows surgery to be performed through tiny incisions in the abdomen.
Robotic surgery reduces pain and scarring and provides for a quicker more comfortable recovery, so you can go back to your normal routine faster.

Hysteroscopy
At Fleur Women’s Health in Rancho Mirage, CA, we strongly believe that every woman should be empowered to take control of her feminine health. Unfortunately, invasive procedures often prevent women from taking steps to improve their feminine health and wellness. That’s why we are proud to offer minimally invasive surgery.
Minimally Invasive Surgery at Fleur Women’s Health
Hysterectomy
A hysterectomy is a minimally invasive surgery commonly performed due to uterine prolapse or uterine fibroids. Depending on their unique feminine health needs, women may opt for a total hysterectomy or partial hysterectomy. A total hysterectomy involves the removal of the entire uterus and the cervix. It is commonly used to cure cervical or uterine cancer.
A subtotal (supracervical) hysterectomy leaves the cervix in place and only removes the upper portion of the uterus. This is commonly used to treat chronic pelvic pain, endometriosis, and abnormal vaginal bleeding. A radical hysterectomy involves the removal of the uterus, tissue on the sides of the uterus, the cervix, and the top portion of the vagina.
Sacrocolpopexy
Sacrocolpopexy, or sacral colpopexy, is a minimally invasive surgery often performed at the same time as a hysterectomy. This procedure used to reconstruct female sex organs after pelvic organ prolapse by making a six-inch incision in the abdomen. At Fleur Women’s Health in Rancho Mirage, CA, we use minimally invasive techniques so you can be back on your feet faster.
Myomectomy
Myomectomy, also known as uterine fibroidectomy, is a minimally invasive procedure designed to remove uterine leiomyomas (fibroids). This procedure is ideal for women who want to treat uterine fibroids but are poor candidates for a hysterectomy because they want children in the future.
Using the open abdominal technique, the recovery from this procedure takes four to six weeks. By implementing the laparoscopic technique, we allow our clients to be back to their daily routine within two to four weeks.
Laparoscopic Tubal Ligation
If you are certain, you do not want children in the future, but you don’t have six weeks to take off of work, laparoscopic tubal ligation is right for you. “Laparoscopic” refers to a technique commonly used in medical procedures today. A laparoscope is a very fine cannula with a tiny camera attached to the end.
The images captured by the camera are transmitted to a screen in the operating room. This allows us to see your internal organs without cutting you open. With this technique, we can use tiny incisions rather than one large one. Using this technique, we can clamp and block or sever and seal your fallopian tubes. Either way, your eggs cannot be fertilized.
Laparoscopic Ovarian Cystectomy
Laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy is a minimally invasive procedure designed to remove a cyst or cysts from your ovary. While many women live with ovarian cysts and don’t know it until they have image testing done for unrelated reasons, even more women live in extreme pain caused by their cysts.
Three of the most common symptoms of ovarian cysts are menstrual pain, pain during intercourse, and chronic pelvic pain. Using the laparoscopic technique, you can be back to your daily routine with seven days.
Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure designed for diagnostic purposes through endoscopy. By using a hysteroscope, or thin. lighted cannula inserted into the vagina, both the cervix and inside of the uterus can be examined. It is most commonly used to diagnose the cause of abnormal vaginal bleeding. However, it may also be used for treatment.
Diagnostic hysteroscopy may also be used to confirm the results of another test, such as hysterosalpingography (HSG). HSG is an x-ray dye test designed to check the health of the fallopian tubes and uterus. Hysteroscopy may also be combined with other procedures, such as laparoscopy or D&C (dilation and cutterage).
Dilation and Cutterage
Dilation and cutterage is another minimally invasive procedure commonly performed at Fleur Women’s Health. This outpatient procedure is designed to remove tissue from a woman’s womb. The name describes the procedure.
First, the cervix is dilated. Then, a curette is inserted. There are several reasons why a woman may benefit from dilation and cutterage. It is most commonly used to treat idiopathic abnormal vaginal bleeding between menstrual periods. However, it is also commonly performed after a miscarriage. Less commonly, it is used to remove leftover tissue following a uterine abortion.
Midurethral Sling Placement
Since 1996, midurethral slings have been used to treat female stress urinary incontinence. Stress urinary incontinence in women is often caused by pelvic floor muscles that were weakened during pregnancy or childbirth. These retropubic slings were placed by inserting mesh trocars. Unfortunately, the original slings caused many issues.
For instance, they often led to perforation of the bladder, bowel injury, and vascular injury. At Fleur Women’s Health, we use trans-obturator mesh slings placed by passing mesh through the obturator canal and completely avoiding the retropubic space. This mitigates the risk of complications experienced using the original technique.
